Naidu hops on to the beauty bandwagon

Naidu Hops On To The Beauty Bandwagon
R Srinivasan / BSCAL Dec 17, 1997, 00:00 IST

The city of the four towers can now boast of having produced three beauty queens. And media-savvy Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is leaving no stone unturned to project them as proof that the world is Hyderabads backyard.

Shortly after Diana Hayden was crowned Miss World, Naidu hailed her for bringing glory to her hometown.

In the course of a presentation at a tourism convention, he added that former Miss World Aishwarya Rai was also from Hyderabad. However, Naidu surprisingly failed to mention that former Miss Universe Sushmita Sen was also born in Hyderabad.

Never one to pass up a good photo opportunity, Naidu will today take some time out of his busy schedule to receive Diana Hayden. After all, she symbolises the world-beating Hyderabad of Naidus dreams.

Hayden arrived in the city yesterday to share my moments of glory and happiness with the very people amongst whom I grew up. After meeting Naidu, she will be taken on a Victory Drive in a vintage car in the evening. Earlier in the day, she will visit her old school, St Anns Convent.

Hayden will also pay a visit to the CCRP camp, jointly set up by the city police and Unicef, where children working in hazardous industries are being nursed back to full fitness before they are admitted in schools. She will also address a news conference during her stay in the city.

perhaps to mark her coronation as the princess of the hearts of Hyderabads citizens.
