| Alex Kuruvilla, managing director, MTV Networks India has resigned from the music channel today. He put in his papers after six years with the channel.

| In a media release, Kuruvilla said, "I've had the opportunity to be part of the network during my time here - from launching exciting new channels, to bringing reality television to India and changing the idea of what a music channel is expected to be." He was also the executive vice president for MTV Networks-Asia.

| Kuruvilla had joined the company in 1999 from the erstwhile Hindustan Thompson Associates (now JWT). He was seen in the television industry as one who transformed MTV from a music channel to an Indian youth channel.

| During his tenure, the network had several firsts to its credits. The flagship brand MTV India had carved a distinct identity for itself with programmes like MTV Youth Icon, MTV Style Awards, MTV IMMIES and the first soap on MTV India, Kitni Mast Hai Zindagi..

| He was also responsible for diversifying MTV's portfolio by launching a kids channel Nick andan international music and lifestyle channel- VH1.The company is expected to announce a replacement for Alex's position shortly. |
