Best ever April-Nov for RSP

Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), an unit of Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL), has registered best ever production performance for the period between April and November.

The plant produced 1.5 million tonne of hot metal, 1.4 million tonne crude steel and 1.3 million tonne finished steel during the first eight months of the fiscal 2012-13, which are also the highest ever figures since the inception of the plant, said a company release.

Besides, in areas like sintering and hot rolled coil production, the plant created new records. In the production of spiral weld pipes, RSP registered a growth of 12.1 per cent over the corresponding period last year, while in cold rolled non-oriented steel, the improvement was to the tune of 4.14 per cent compared with the year ago period.
