BGR Energy bags Rs 36.6 cr Powergrid contract

The Chennai based BGR Energy Systems has bagged turnkey contract by Powergrid Corporation of India for installation of optic fibre ground wire (OFGW) at a cost of Rs 36.61 crore.

The Electrical Projects division of the company has bagged the project which includes replacing of Unified Load Dispatch Centre (ULDC) microwave links by installing optic fibre ground wire on the existing transmission structures in Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Puducherry.

The Rs 36.61 crore project is expected to be completed in 18 months, the company's Electrical Projects Division CEO and President V Balakrishnan said in a statement.

"We are emerging as a leader in providing total communications solutions on power lines segment in India. Including this order for 1,575 km, the OPGW length installed by BGR on turnkey basis would have crossed 6,000 km", he said.
