Bosch Electrical Drives India Pvt Ltd., a joint venture between Bosch and Igarashi Motors India Pvt Ltd, has announced the setting up of a plant in Chennai to produce Wiper systems, engine cooling fan modules, HVAC blowers and window lift drives products.

The plant, being set up at an investment of Rs 37 crore, is expected to be functional by the end of 2012.

The facility, to be built on a total area of 9,000 sq metres will cater to the needs of the domestic market, the company said in a statement.

Bosch Electrical Drives India presently employs 200 persons. With the opening of the new plant, it is expected that nearly 350 more people will be recruited over a period of three years.

Commenting on the new development Wolf-Henning Scheider, Member of Board of Management, Robert Bosch GmbH, said “This is a milestone event not just for the electrical drives business division of Bosch in India, but a milestone from the global perspective too.

With Asian economies witnessing spectacular growth and “China & India” at the helm of affairs, we see huge opportunity and scope for Bosch to contribute to some significant and path breaking developments here.”
