ByondTech launches low-cost tablet series 'mibook' starting at Rs 4,300

The co which has first launched its products on e-commerce sites a week back, has already sold 4,000 units in India

Pune-headquartered ByondTech Electronics Private Limited, a part of the Canpex Group, today launched its tablet series 'mibook' in Hyderabad. The tablets are priced between Rs 4,300 - Rs 11,000.

ByondTech, which has first launched its products on e-commerce sites a week back, has already sold 4,000 units in India.

"Seeing the demand and growth of low-cost tablets in the Indian market, we expect to sell 500,000 tablets and to gain a 15 per cent share in the growing tablet PC market in the country in a year's time," Prashant Bora, chief executive officer of ByondTech Electronics, said.

"The tablet PC market in India is growing at a faster rate. According to market prediction, the current annual demand may double to 6 million tablets in the coming year," he said addressing the media here.

"In the second quarter this year, the Indian tablet market was about 5.5 lakh units, which is close to 2 lakh units a month. But, the market is expected to double with close to 4 lakh tablets a month in next quarters," he added.

The mibook series tablets feature android v4.0.4 with Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, 3D video and gaming, kinetic scrolling touch pad, capacitive 5 point multi touch screen, etc. The 3D-devices come across 7, 9 and 10-inch screens, are powered by Android operating system and have SIM card slots.

The company has lined-up several new launches including - android-powered mobile handsets across 3.5-5-inch screens.

The company, which entered to the mobile handsets business in 2009, claims that it has sold 5 million units in India. It has its R&D and manufacturing centre in Shenzhen, China, with production capacity of 400,000 mobile handsets and 100,000 tablets every month.
