ECL Finance, six others buy 6.18% in Fortis Healthcare

(India) today said and six other entities had acquired a 6.18% stake in the company.

However, financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

In a regulatory filing, Fortis Healthcare said 25,052,222 shares, representing a 6.18% stake in the company, were acquired "by way of encumbrances against loans/dues".

ECL Finance, along with Edelweiss Financial Advisors, Edelweiss Securities, Edelweiss Comtrade, Edel Finance Company, Edelweiss Stock Broking and Edelweiss Broking, acquired the 6.18% stake in Fortis Healthcare.

According to the filing, these entities do not belong to either the promoter or promoter group in Fortis Healthcare (India).

Fortis Healthcare operates a chain of hospitals and various healthcare centres, among other medical facilities, in India.

Shares of the company jumped by 3.8% to end the day at Rs 91 apiece on the Bombay Stock Exchange.
