KEC International bags orders worth Rs 795 cr

Engineering and construction firm KEC International today said it has bagged orders worth Rs 795 crore across its transmission and power system segments in domestic and international markets.

The RPG Group company bagged three orders worth Rs 600 crore in its transmission business and Rs 195 crore in power system segment, KEC said in a statement here.

In the transmission business, the company secured two orders worth Rs 546 crore from Power Grid Corp and one project worth Rs 54 crore from Sri Lanka's Ceylon Electricity Board.

Under the Power Grid contract, the company will establish two transmission lines in Odisha and Andhra Pradesh.

In Sri Lanka, KEC has been awarded a contract to establish 40km 132kV double circuit line on turnkey basis from Ambalangoda to Galle grid station.

KEC bagged three orders worth Rs 195 crore from Kenya Power and Lighting Company for setting up substations and underground cables on turnkey basis.

"We have seen continuous order inflows for substations from Kenya. Apart from this, in the last six months we have strengthened our presence in the SAARC region by securing four orders for transmission from Afghanistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh," KEC Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Ramesh Chandak said.

Meanwhile, the company said it has started commercial production of high tension cables at its green field facility in Vadodara in Gujarat. The facility will have an annual production capacity of 1,800 km of cables.

Shares of KEC closed 1.56 per cent up at Rs 58.75 on the BSE.
