Aluminium maker Nalco on Saturday posted 25 per cent rise in standalone profit at Rs 268 crore for the quarter ended March 31. The company had posted standalone profit of Rs 214 crore in the corresponding quarter of FY16, National Aluminium Company Ltd (Nalco) said in a BSE filing. The standalone revenue from operations increased to Rs 2,549.7 crore, over Rs 1,994 crore in the corresponding quarter of 2015-16. The company has integrated and diversified operations in mining, metal and power.
Presently, government holds 80.93 per cent stake in Nalco. The company has a 68.25 lakh TPA bauxite mine and 22.75 lakh TPA alumina refinery located in Odisha, and 4.60 lakh TPA aluminium smelter and 1,200 MW captive power plant located in the same state, according to its website. As per diversification plan, Nalco has ventured into renewable energy sectors. The company has successfully commissioned two wind power plants.
