Industry body National Association of Software and Service Companies (Nasscom) today said that small and medium sized companies need to leverage on sectors like cloud computing and mobile application platforms.

"There are opportunities, especially for small and medium size companies, to develop products in sectors like cloud computing, mobile applications and software-as-a-service. The future is bright and we need to make full use of it," Nasscom President Som Mittal said here at a one-day Nasscom Emergeout Conclave.

The event was themed 'India should be a launch Pad for Product companies in future'.

Stating that India is a global leader software services, he said it is time to create more product companies. "We should have at least 500 product companies in the next five years."

Citing a report, MindTree CEO and Managing Director Krishnakumar Natarajan said global demand for IT outsourcing is estimated to touch $1.7 trillion in the next eight years.
