VA Tech wins Rs 270 cr order from Reliance

Firm will construct effluent treatment plants at RIL's Dahej and Hazira complexes

VA Tech Wabag Ltd has bagged an order worth Rs 270 crore from Reliance Industries, to set up effluent treatment plants at Reliance's Dahej and Hazira complexes.

According to a statement issued by Va Tech, Reliance Industries has chosen VA Tech Wabag for the construction of a 32.4 million-litres-a-day effluent treatment plant with recycle racility for their proposed PTA and PET Dahej manufacturing unit at Gujarat and tertiary treatment plant for Reliance's Hazira complex for an order value aggregating to around Rs 270 crore.

The effluent treatment and recycle facility at Dahej is expected to executed within 21 months.

As part of the Reliance order, the industrial water business group of Wabag would be executing two projects -- one on provision of side stream filters at Dahej and the other for construction of a tertiary treatment plant at Hazira, for a value of around Rs 20 crore.

The statement further said that for the first time in India, the proposed facility will benefit from a combination of advanced technologies from VA Tech Wabag.

This effluent treatment and recycle facility will have Anaerobic treatment using upflow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB) technology followed by aerobic treatment using membrane bio-reactor (MBR) technology. This will be followed by recycling facility using memrane technologies such as ultra filtration and reverse osmosis. The effluent from the facility will be recycled and reused in the Dahej complex.

The proposed ETP and recycle facility will be the first large-scale recycle plant for PTA wastewater in India, VA Tech said.
