Several residential areas were inundated and normal life thrown out of gear as heavy rain lashed since midnight last night.

The residential localities at Nacharam and Kukatpally, among others in the city, faced inundation while rain water entered some apartment complexes.

Water in the drainages overflowed onto the roads and homes, some of them alleged. Thick foam appeared on some water bodies.

The personnel of the Greater Municipal Corporation (GHMC) carried out works to drain out the water and to repair the damaged roads.

Serilingampally MLA Arikepudi Gandhi, who visited affected localities, said a permanent solution needs to be found as some of the houses were built in violation of rules.
