Chavan: European misleading locals against N-plant

Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan on Sunday said “a European man” was involved in a false propaganda against the upcoming Jaitapur nuclear power plant, a day after he said locals there were being misled by “outsiders” and “certain” political parties.

The 9,900 MW Jaitapur nuclear power project is a Indo-French joint venture. Chavan, who had visited Jaitapur on Saturday to meet the local people who are opposed to the project, said the state government was pursuing development projects and that he put this point across to the local people.
