Polling to take place on 87 assembly seats on December 13, 2012
The Election Commission of India on Saturday issued a notification for the first phase of Gujarat assembly elections for 87 constituencies. The polling for these seats are scheduled to be held on December 13, 2012.
"The notification for the first phase of the state assembly elections has been issued today. This covers fourteen districts and four constituencies in Ahmedabad district. Notification for the second phase of elections in the remaining districts will be issued on November 23," said Anita Karwal, state's chief electoral officer.
The first phase of elections will be held on December 13, 2012. The last date for filing the nominations is November 24, 2012. The scrutiny of forms will take place on November 26, while the last date for withdrawal of candidature is November 28, 2012.
The second phase of polling will take place on December 17, 2012.
