To assess how economies perform, the IMD World Talent Ranking studies three factors. First, the investment and development factor which measures the resources committed to cultivate home-grown talent.
Second, the appeal factor that evaluates the ability to attract and retain talent. And third, the readiness factor that quantifies the quality of the available skills in the talent pool. Asia’s talent Hong Kong pipped Singapore in a tight race for the best of Asia’s talent, according to 2017 rankings released on Tuesday by the Switzerland-based Institute for Management Development. Singapore scored 75.63 versus 77.9 for its regional rival, while both took a big lead against 10 others in Asia, according to the rankings.
