Jharkhand to get new capital site soon

Almost a decade old plan sanctioned by the first NDA-led government headed by is going to take shape by the three-timer chief minister,Arjun Munda  who added futuristic plans for the new state capital.

The state’s first chief minister, Babulal Marandi had planned to set up the new capital city of at village Sukurhatu. along with its adjacent villages near Patratu. Soon after the constitution of the new state, the haphazard growth in infrastructure sector had started because of increased real state business followed by abnormal rise in population. With the initiative of the three-timer chief minister, a decision was taken to prepare a master plan of sustainable development for the new capital city till 2037.

The state government has recently appointed New Delhi-based Feedback Ventures Private Limited (FVL) to draw up the master plan to ensure the growth of the greater Ranchi till 2037. According to information available from the Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC), FVIL has expressed its inability to meet the deadline for completion of the master plan and sought time.

The confusion over the selection of sites for the new capital city is not new. During last eight years nearly half a dozen agencies were appointed by the governments that ruled from time to time. The present government has appointed New Delhi-based Feedback Ventures Private Limited (FVL) in May this year to prepare a plan for a systematic growth in infrastructures of the state capital. Ranchi Municipal Corporation {RMC} has been assigned by the government to supervise the progress of the plan. FVL has recently written to RMC to extend the deadline for submitting the plan..

Jharkhand chief minister, Arjun Munda now wanted to set up the new capital city on the vacant lands of Central public sector undertaking,Heavy Engineering Corporation (HEC) by constructing buildings like a residence for the governor, the state Assembly, chief minister’s secretariat, residences of Speaker, ministers, MLAs,  bureaucrats and other VIPs, as well as a five-star hotel, malls and institutionalareas.
