Ntpc Seeks Dividend Waiver For 10 Years

National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) has sought a 10-year dividend waiver which would result in savings of Rs 17,500 crore.

In a presentation to the power ministry, NTPC has said it would plough back the savings for its 20,000 mega watt capacity addition programme over the next two plan periods.

According to NTPC sources, if the utility is not accorded a dividend waiver, it will be forced to restrict itself to ongoing projects, thereby adding a capacity of about 4,000 mega watt only.

Power ministry officials said the ministry was expected to approach the finance ministry shortly on the issue.
