Prof Acharya nominated to RBI board

A mechanical engineer by training Prof Acharya obtained a doctorate in Industrial Engineering from IIT-Kharagpur

The government has nominated as a director on the central board of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). He is former director of IIT-Kharagpur. Acharya, also headed All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE) in the past.

A mechanical engineer by training Prof Acharya obtained a doctorate in Industrial Engineering from IIT-Kharagpur.

In his career spanning over 32 years he has spent 27 years into teaching and research and has five years of experience as academic administrator as vice-chancellor, Biju Patnaik University of Technology, Rourkela and chairman, AICTE.

At he was chairman of joint entrance exam (JEE) and Vinod Gupta school of management.

He is also consultant to several companies like Tata Steel, General Motors, Hindustan Unilever, and Tata Chemicals.      

He has the B.Sc (Engineering) degree in mechanical engineering from NIT Rourkela.
