Two trade unions on Wednesday threatened to go on a strike on June 10 demanding cancellation of coal block allocation and dismantling of the world’s largest coal producer, Coal India Ltd. Alleg-ing the government had exten-ded undue benefits of Rs 43 lakh crore by allocating blocks to private companies, the unions demanded blocks to both public and private sector companies be cancelled and the process of new allocations stopped.
