Gujarat polls: I care for farmers, not chair, says PM Modi

The polling for the two-phase elections in the state will take place on December 9 and 14

Prime Minister on Friday asserted that he does not care for "the chair" and only wants to work for the farmers.

Addressing a rally here, the Prime Minister said, "When I had taken over as the Chief Minister (of Gujarat), farmers from Patan and Banaskantha me and I told them to focus on irrigation. People told me this approach will ensure you are defeated. I said - I do not care for the chair, I want to work for the farmers and want to work for Banaskantha, and Patan."

The Prime Minister also said that knows the difference between the (BJP) and the Party.

He also pointed out that during floods; it was the that took up the relief work, while the MLAs were relaxing in

"leaders were providing flood relief, whereas leaders were relaxing in swimming pools in resorts in Bengaluru," Prime Minister said.

The polling for the two-phase elections in the state will take place on December 9 and 14 and votes will be counted on December 18.

The Assembly has 182 seats.
