The diet is touted to have many benefits and weight loss is the foremost amongst them; other benefits being improved overall health, energy levels and protection against lifestyle diseases such as diabetes, epilepsy Alzheimer's, disease and even cancer. It is believed that consuming a very low-carb and high-fat diet puts the body into a metabolic state called ketosis.
