Cardamom up 1.6% on spot demand, tight supply

Strong domestic and export demand at spot markets influenced cardamom prices at futures trade

Continuing its rising trend, cardamom prices rose by Rs 20 to Rs 1,297.90 per kg in futures trade today as speculators engaged in creating positions, supported by strong domestic and export demand.

At the MCX, the July contract rose by Rs 20, or 1.56%, to Rs 1,297.90 per kg, with a business turnover of 250 lots.

The June contract also higher by Rs 11.70, or 0.90%, to Rs 1,310 per kg, with a trading volume of 848 lots.

Traders said apart from restricted supplies from the producing regions, strong domestic and export demand at spot markets, influenced cardamom prices at futures trade.
