Jeera prices traded higher 2.01% to Rs 13,347.50 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators created fresh positions driven by improved demand in the spot market.

Fall in arrivals from producing regions in the physical market also influenced jeera prices at futures market, marketmen said.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in June rose by Rs 262.50, or 2.01%, to Rs 13,347.50 per quintal, with an open interest of 246 lots.

Likewise, the spice for delivery in July traded higher by Rs 17.50, or 0.13%, to Rs 13,670 per quintal, with an open interest of 14,319 lots.
