Markets rebound into positive territory

The markets have bounched back, with the Sensex now quoting at 15956, higher by 20 points and the Nifty at 4766, up six points. The mid-cap and small-cap indices are marginally higher as well. The IT and FMCG stocks are showing strength in this morning's trades, while the realty, energy and banking sectors are weak.

On the gainer's side, Hero Honda has strengthened by Rs 30 or 1.9% at Rs 161, Tata Steel has added Rs 5 or 1% at Rs 539 and Wipro is up by Rs 6 or 1% at Rs 643, on the BSE. Infosys and Grasim are the other major gainers.

On the other hand, the top losers are Sterlite (weaker by Rs 8 or 1% at Rs 744), DLF (lower by Rs 3 or 1% at Rs 308) and ICICI Bank (down Rs 8 or 1% at Rs 797). And index heavyweight, Reliance has shed Rs 8 or 0.8% at Rs 988.

The market breadth is positive. Out of 2044 stocks traded on the BSE, there are 1057 advancing stocks as against 929 declines.
