Sensex down 170pts

The Sensex is now down 170 points at 10,688.

Hindalco has dropped over 4% to Rs 175. Tata Motors has shed nearly 4% to Rs 740. Grasim has declined 3.5% to Rs 1,968.

HDFC Bank and Satyam have slipped 3% each to Rs 725 and Rs 724, respectively.

Maruti, Larsen & Toubro, Ranbaxy and Bharti Airtel are down around 2.5% each to Rs 793, Rs 2,194, Rs 335 and Rs 362, respectively.

Out of 2,414 stocks traded so far, 1,423 have declined, 899 have advanced and the rest are unchanged.
