BJP would have won if contested alone in Punjab: Haryana Minister Anil Vij

ANI  |  Ambala (Haryana) [India]

Reacting to the political debacle of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD)- (BJP) alliance in Punjab, Sports Minister Anil Vij said that the saffron party would have won the Assembly elections if it had contested them without the coalition.

"It was mainly an Akali Dal in Punjab, was hardly 10 percent of it. So can't call it BJP's loss. I am sure if had contested polls alone then today we would have a in the state," he said.

However, hailing the BJP in and Uttarakhand, Vij gave credit to Prime Minister Modi for their landslide victory.

The secured 77 out of 117 seats in the Assembly polls, making a strong comeback after a decade.

The won 20 seats in its debut, making it the second-largest party in the Punjab Assembly.

The SAD- BJP alliance fared the worst with 18 seats.
