The counter blockade has intensified in many parts of Manipur, as the protest against the ongoing economic blockade called by the UNC since November 1 along the National Highway, shows no signs of abating.
The counter blockade supporters stopped vehicles from carrying goods and other items at Wahengbam Leikai, Khumbong, Bishnupur, Kakching and Khuyathong.
Goods comprising of rice, vegetables and other materials were off loaded from trucks and vandalized on the road.
Newspapers meant for Jiribam and Tamenglong were reportedly burnt in the morning, as also a Tata Sumo jeep in Khumbong by counter blockade supporters.
The police fired tear gas shells to disperse the mob.
However, no casualties were reported in the arson and the police action.
