Delhi HC defers hearing of Swaraj India's plea on common symbol

The High on Monday deferred the hearing on allotment of common symbol to the candidates of Swaraj Party contesting forthcoming municipal elections in till March 21.

Appearing for the state commission, advocate Sumit Pushkarna submitted before the that they don't have the power to allot symbols to unrecognised but registered political parties, adding that this power is vested with the Commission of (ECI).

Swaraj India, led by Yogender Yadav and Prashant Bhushan, approached the High earlier on Tuesday challenging the state commission's denial to their plea for a common symbol in the upcoming civic polls.
