A father shot his daughter on hearing of her love affair in Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal district on Saturday.
A case has been registered at the Asomoli police station. The girl was shot by her brother as well.
The victim registered her statement before magistrate.
The police admitted the victim to the district hospital immediately where she was declared serious and has been referred to the higher centre.
Ruby, a resident of Sambhal district, had long been engaged in a love affair with a boy named Ibrahim from her own neighbourhood.
Last night, the girl was talking to her boyfriend over the phone. When, her elder sister saw her talking, she informed the family about it. Annoyed her father, Samrajr and brother Iftekhar , beat her black and blue.
Early, this morning as the girl was asleep, the father and brother shot her.
On hearing the sound, the villagers gathered scaring the accused into fleeing from their home. Father and son fled away from the spot.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) B. P. Balyan and Naib tehsildar Nitin Taneja rushed to the spot. Taneja filed a magisterial statement of the woman, wherein she accused her father and brother of firing gun shots at her.
The victim's mother, however, denied the charge, saying the girl was accusing them out of anger.
Police is investigating the case.
