New Zealand has expelled a U.S. diplomat after the embassy refused to waive diplomatic immunity during a police investigation, according to media reports.
The embassy staffer, Colin White was allegedly involved in an incident on March 12.
The police requested to speak with the man, but the U.S. Embassy denied it, according to Television New Zealand (TVNZ).
New Zealand asked the U.S. to remove him from the country and they followed through with the request.
According to TVNZ, White was seen with a broken nose and black eye following an incident in the city of Lower Hutt.
The police have not given any details about the alleged incident which took place outside Wellington.
