The BSE Sensex was up 68.49 points, or 0.35% to 19,416.61.

The benchmark rubber contract on the Tokyo Commodity Exchange for May delivery fell 0.6%, or 1.6 yen to settle at 262.10 yen ($3.19) per kg. Natural rubber is a key raw material in tyre manufacturing.
