Police have seized 21 country-made pistols from a criminal who confessed that he was taking them to supply to various people ahead of municipal elections in Ghaziabad.
Mohd Kausar was detained when police were randomly checking vehicles on National Highway 24 in Vijay Nagar area and found his conduct suspicious, a police officer said on Friday.
During sustained interrogation, he revealed that he was from Barala village in Shamli district of Uttar Pradesh and was going to supply the weapons to people whose addresses he was to get on telephone.
"A team of officers has been assigned to bust the total chain from manufacturer to buyer," said Ghaziabad Superintendent of Police Akash Tomar.
