Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday called on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at hers residence in south Kolkata's Kalighat and praised her efforts to fight communal forces like the BJP.
"The efforts being made by Didiji (elder sister, as Banerjee is affectionately called), Mamataji, is very crucial. Her efforts should continue, because the nation has to be saved.
"The nation will not survive because of the policies of the BJP. Whenever I come, I meet Didi. The truth is Didi is fighting here to help the rural poor and the peasants. The change and the development that is being seen here is laudable.
"I feel the fight to combat communal forces, that we see here, shou ld be intensified," he said.
Senior SP leader Kiranmoy Nanda was also present during the discussions between the two leaders.
