A top commander of Ulfa's anti-talk faction was killed during a fierce gun battle with personnel of the army's Red Horns Division and Assam Police in Assam's Udalguri district on Friday, a defence official said.
The killed terrorist was identified as Rajen Deka, said Defence spokesman Lt. Col. Suneet Newton, adding the incident took place at Khoirapara village in the district.
"The cadre was a hardcore one and was the area commander of the outfit for Udalguri and Darrang districts," Newton said adding that an AK47, a foreign-made pistol, large quantity of ammunition, mobile phones and currency were recovered from the slain terrorist.
