A Lieutenant Colonel committed suicide on Friday by hanging himself at his residence in west Delhi, Police said.

The family of deceased Army officer Jagdish Prakash found him hanging from a grille in the morning near the staircase in Salaria Apartment in Sector 20 in Dwarka.

A native of Kerala, he was serving in the Corps of Engineers and posted at Kashmir House on Rajaji Marg in New Delhi, Deputy Commissioner of Police Surender Kumar said.

No suicide note was found at the spot.

Prakash's family told police he was under probe on charge of misappropriation of funds while posted at Siliguri in West Bengal.
