Police have arrested three people for gunning down a Haryanvi folk singer, police said on Monday. One of the accused is an artiste and was a colleague of the victim.
Gaurav (26) of Rohtak, Mahesh (26) from Jhajjar and Sachin (21) of Hisar were taken into custody.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Sumit Kumar told reporters that the arrests were made on a tip while checking vehicles in Gurugram.
The officer said when a car coming from Jhajjar was checked, a dead body was found behind the rear seat.
The victim turned out to be singer Joginder alias Lala Saini (30).
Police said Gaurav was also a Haryanvi artiste and had along with Saini produced a musical album.
The accused kidnapped Saini for ransom. When he refused to pay the ransom amount, he was shot dead.
Police said Gaurav was also jealous of Saini's popularity as a singer.
