Militants on Thursday shot and injured a Special Police Officer (SPO) in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag, police said.
The incident occurred outside the District Magistrate's office in the south Kashmir town. The area was cordoned off for a search operation after the shooting, police said.
SPO are youths engaged on a fixed monthly remuneration to fight militancy. In most cases, they are inadequately trained and with no official weapons.
