The Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation (LMRC) on Thursday organised a special ride for elderly people from an old age care centre, days after a similar arrangement was made for disabled children.
The 30 inmates of Aastha Hospice travelled from Charbagh station to Transport Nagar. Wheelchair support was provided for them.
The group arrived at Charbagh station in the evening where it was received by Kumar Keshav, Managing Director of the LMRC. Kumar Keshav told IANS that the event was a "very special one for the LMRC".
He was accompanied by Mahendra Kumar, Director (Operations) with LMRC.
Narendra Bansal, 60, appeared thrilled as he said: "I am overwhelmed to visit the Lucknow Metro for the very first time ever in my life. It was a pleasure to come across such an advanced technology in our city." Others in the group too seemed to enjoy the ride.
The Lucknow Metro started commercial operations from September 6.
