While the media focussed on Prime Minister Narendra Modi's rousing roadshow in Bhubaneswar on his way to attend the Bharatiya Janata Party national executive meeting, many missed the sideshow playing out between Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram and one of his staff members. According to eye witnesses, Oram was livid with his aide when he couldn't find him at Janata Maidan, the venue of the two-day BJP meet. So upset was the minister that he slapped his aide hard even as the latter ran up to him. Worse, Oram slapped the aide in full view of TV camera persons, several of whom recorded the incident. The party later said it was a personal matter concerning Oram and his aide.
