WBPCC urges Centre to reduce price of LPG, fertiliser

The resolution was adopted at a WBPCC executive committee meeting at which AICC General Secretary in-charge of West Bengal Shakeel Ahmed was present.

Speaking after the meeting, WBPCC President Pradip Bhattacharya said "The UPA government has taken some measures for reforms for the economic development of the country, but the Trinamool Congress and CPI(M) is giving a wrong interpretation and misguiding the people."

He said "We have decided to go to the people to guide them that economic reforms are for good of the country as its benefits should reach all sections of society."

The people would also be told that subsidy has not been withdrawn in all sectors as was being wrongly propagated by the TMC and CPI(M), he said.

"The political agenda of the Trinamool Congress and the CPI(M) is to harm the Congress which, follows its own political agenda," the WBPCC chief said.

To a question, he admitted that President Pranab Mukherjee's son Abhijit Mukherjee had to struggle to win the Jangipur Lok Sabha seat.

He said that the WBPCC would launch a movement across the state after the puja festival to prepare for next year's panchayat elections.
