4-year-old falls in uncovered borewell, rescue operation on

A frantic operation is underway to rescue a four-year-old boy who fell into an uncovered 150-feet deep borewell at village in district of yesterday morning.

Roshan, the child, is alive, and is being given through a pipe, of Police Anshuman Singh told over phone from the spot around 10 pm today.

Oxygen is also being pumped into the borewell, he said, adding that an Army team is helping with the operation.

The area is 110 km away from the district headquarters.

A parallel hole has been dug close to the borewell and now a tunnel is being drilled to connect the two so that the child can be pulled out, the SP added.

Parents were speaking to the boy who is stuck some 30 feet below the surface, a rescuer said.

The boy fell into the borewell around 11 am while playing in the field where the borewell is located.
