Five members of a family were found dead inside a house in Hemgiri area of Sundargarh district of Odisha today, the police said.
The highly decomposed bodies were recovered after foul smell emanated from the house located in Basundhara coal mine area, they said.
The deceased have been identified as a labour contractor, his wife, son and two daughters.
Police, along with forensic experts and scientific teams, have rushed to the site and investigation was in progress.
The bodies have been sent for post-mortem, the police said adding, efforts are on the ascertain the circumstances that led to the death of the family members.
