A 52-year-old man tried to commit suicide by jumping off the Delhi-Noida-Direct (DND) flyway today but was rescued by alert locals, the police said.
Police were informed around 10.15 am about the incident.
The man who had jumped off was identified as Noida resident Sanjay Arora, they added.
His wife was called to the spot and after necessary legal formalities he was handed over to his wife Rashmi.
He told police that he had a business of manufacturing pipes but had incurred severe losses, the police said.
He had lost all hopes of recovery in his business and thought of killing himself. However, he was rescued by some locals who saw him jumping into the river.
