A 55-year-old woman was crushed to death after the scooter on which she was riding pillion was hit by a speeding tempo in outer Delhi's Paschim Vihar area today. The woman was rushed to the Sanjay Gandhi hospital but was declared brought dead, police said. The incident happened at around noon today when Ramlata was going with her husband Sushil on the scooter, they added. As soon as the scooter reached Subham Enclave, it was hit by a speeding tempo. The impact of the accident was such that the woman was thrown off and crushed under the wheels of the tempo. In the accident, her husband also sustained injuries. The tempo driver fled from the spot after the accident and is absconding.
The cops have identified the tempo owner and are questioning him to know the whereabouts of the absconding driver.
