V Maitreyan (AIADMK) strongly objected to Kanimozhi when she said, "The state government (Tamil Nadu) is trying to stall the project, which the Prime Minister has declared as one more important milestone to boost infrastructure projects."

Even as Kanimozhi and P J Kurien, who was in the chair, said that she had the Chairman's permission to raise the issue, AIADMK members kept shouting and trooped into the Well.

Asking them to go back, Kurien said, "this is the height of indiscipline".

Reacting to this, angry AIADMK members asked the Chair to expel them from the House.

Maitreyan along with A Elavarasan and A W Rabi Bernard sat in the Well even as Kurien said, "You are questioning the Chair" and adjourned the House till 2 pm, 15 minutes ahead of lunch recess.

Earlier, Tiruchi Siva (DMK) raised a point of order saying that when a member is speaking with the permission of the Chair, other members cannot obstruct.

"They are challenging the Chair," he pointed out to which Kurien agreed and asked the members to restrain and go back to their seats.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Finance Minister were present in the House.
