AIR begins broadcasting FM news headlines in Rajasthani

FM radio listeners in can now listen to headlines in their local language.

The regional unit of All Radio (AIR), Jaipur, has started broadcasting FM headlines in Rajasthani to promote the local language.


The broadcast began yesterday, regional unit station director Sudhir Rakhecha said.

The division also broadcasts a 10-minute bulletin at 6.50 pm in Rajasthani language.

The initiative was taken after Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting asked officials to give importance to local languages.

"Naidu had given directions in this regard in a review meeting of Doordarshan and AIR in He desired that every regional unit, in every state, should give importance to local languages in their bulletins and FM headlines," joint director of the regional unit O P Meena said.

The regional unit of AIR broadcasts six FM headlines on Radio Pink city FM 100.3 MHz in and five FM headlines on Radio Sun City FM 102.1 MHz in Jodhpur every day.

It also airs four bulletins at 9 am, 12.30 pm, 6.30 pm in Hindi, and 6.50 pm in Rajasthani language.
