Government-owned Air India is looking to launch a direct flight service to Birmingham from Amritsar, Parliament was informed today. Air India is examining modalities for launching this (Amritsar-Birmingham) flight, Minister of State for Civil Aviation Jayant Sinha said in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha. The national carrier currently operates a flight from Amritsar to Birmingham via Delhi. The airline has already announced its plans to add six new international destinations this year including Tel Aviv, Washington and Copenhagen, among others.
