AJKPC invited at National Convention on 73rd Amendment

"Institute of Social Sciences, New has invited AJKPC to attend the National Convention of the elected panchayat representatives to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the passing of the 73rd Constitution Amendment Act, on December 22 at the Constitution Club, New Delhi," general secretary, AJKPC, Anil Sharma told reporters here today.

The programme would include plenary and parallel sessions and a seminar on local governance, he said.

The convention will also deliberate upon the present status and future prospects of the Panchayati Raj with the participations of eminent political leaders, officials, thinkers and activists.

While giving further details about the invitation, chairman, AJKPC, Shafiq Mir, said that they have received the invitation in this regard and were finalising delegation to attend this national convention.

He informed that AJKPC would forcefully raise the issue of extension of 73rd amendment of the Constitution of India to the state of Jammu and Kashmir.

At least 1,000 Panchayat representatives from across the country are expected to attend this national event, they said.
