Lt Governor Kiran Bedi today underscored the need for setting up a trust by the French nationals here to mobilise funds for maintenance and preservation of heritage buildings. Participating at a programme by Consul General of France here on the occasion of celebration of the 228thFrench National Day (Bastille Day), she said contributions from the citizens either in the name of their parents or forefathers would go a long way to beef up the funds to meet the expenditure. It will be a totally people controlled and people dominated trust, she said. This registered body would be of help to establish a unique role for preserving the heritage buildings dating back to several decades in Puducherry. She also said that very soon she would have a meeting with the French nationals and listen to their 'worries and grievances.
