BTech scholars start acadmeic session at NIIT University

Over 200 BTech scholars of the batch joined a four-year academic course at the NIIT university here, about 100 km from Delhi, which has been declared as the country's greenest campus.

NIIT University(NU) chose the scholars through a NU scholar search programme from school campuses and selected the new batch from out of thousands of applicants in a special initiative in higher education, NIIT Chairman Rajendra Pawar said here today.

The programme also aims to reduce the stress among students during admission season by providing early admission based on the marks in Class 10 and 12.

The selection procedure also included a student and parent interaction process.

Pawar said the NU had distinctive industry-linked features and undertook several research projects. The team at NU included bright Indian faculty returning from the US, he added.

NU offered BTech programmes in Computer science and engineering, Information and Communication Technology, Biotechnology and Electronics and Communications engineering.

With a renowned faculty from the industry, the University works closely with giants like Microsoft Research, IBM Research, Alcatel-Lucent, Bell-Labs Research and Research in Motion(RIM).

The University has got industry collaboration with 3,000 corporates.

NIIT already offers an industry-linked programme in MBA (Finance and Banking) in collaboration with ICICI Bank.
